Manifesting the focus of Industry-University-Research (IUR), highlighting ‘laying equal stress on both technology and quality, combining theory with practice’ as the purpose, and launching the concept ‘international-domestic all-round cooperative education’ by integrating the industry, university, research, and practice, the School of Software of Shanxi Agricultural University is on a mission to cultivate international, compound, practical, and innovative software talents.

Today, a comprehensive system of degree and graduate education has founded featuring complete discipline coverage, diverse degree types, and a complete teaching facility. The school has 83 faculty on the payroll and over 4,200 enrolled students. The subject of Systems Engineering in Agriculture Intelligence is the only second-level discipline authorized to offer a doctorate degree around China, as well as the only discipline authorized to offer an academic master’s degree. Meanwhile, the Intelligent agricultural system engineering is the only discipline authorized to offer a professional master’s degree in China. In addition, the subject of Electronic and Information is the discipline authorized to offer a master’s degree and within multiple directions, including Integrated Circuit (IC) Engineering, Bio-medical Engineering (BME), Artificial Intelligence, and Communication Engineering. The school also sets up 4 undergraduate majors (Software Engineering, Digital Media Art, Data Science and Big Data Technology, and Intelligence Science and Technology) and carry out abundant major directions, including Service Outsourcing, Cloud Computing and Big Data, Digital Finance, Digital Media and Game Software Development, Embedded Software Development, Smart Space, Mobile Internet, Networks and Cybersecurity, and JAVA Enterprise Application Development. The school is operating and consturcting a variety of labs, including the Software Engineering Lab, Cloud Computing and Big Data Lab, Digital Media Art Lab, Embedded Software Development Lab, Networks and Cybersecurity Lab, Finance Informatization Lab, and Students Innovation Lab. These labs are equipped with advanced facilities and are able to satisfy both study and research requirements for undergraduate students and graduate students.

The School of Software carries out the ‘Flexible Education System’. Specifically, outstanding undergraduate students are available to graduate in three years. In addition, students will be issued the certificate of completion or the certificate of study based on their actual situation if they fail to complete courses within 8 years. The school also implements the ‘Complete Credit System’. Students can only repeat the failed courses since the professional basic courses and professional courses have no supplementary assessments. The school sets up short-term semesters to offer courses for students studying during vacation.

The School of Software conducts an international class, and it is capable of receiving international students and recommending domestic students to study abroad. The school of Software also established friendly co-operative ties with Boise State University, Michigan State University, Monroe College, New Zealand Massey University, Auckland University of Technology, University College Dublin, Waterford Institute of Technology, South Korea Jeonju University, and Soonchunhyang University. International class students will receive degrees from both sides’ universities as long as they meet two universities’ graduation requirements.

The Shanxi branch of the China National Computer Quality Supervising Test Center, is linked to the School of Software. This center orients Shanxi province and Beijing to be responsible for computer product quality supervision. In addition, Oracle’s Shanxi education center, ICAN Shanxi base, China Computer Federation Shanxi Agricultural University branch, Certiport International Certification Test Center, and DJI drone Shanxi training center are also linked to the School of Software.

The School of Software pays special attention to innovation education and entrepreneurship education. In recent years, our enrolled students have been awarded over 670 national software copyrights and patents, 3 national first prizes, 27 national second prizes, 21 national third prizes, and 390 technology innovation prizes. Meanwhile, students have published 51 national papers and 49 provincial papers. In addition, the College of Information Science and Engineering has secured over 10 National Natural Science Foundation and Provincial Natural Science Foundation Grants. The school contains more than 30 innovation and entrepreneurship teams, with a stable employment rate above 96%.
